The first organized open-air human settlement was located in Djerdap, and was founded eight thousand years ago. The fishermen from Lepenski VIr formed a culture that lasted two thousand years in continuity, in the period 6500-4500 BC. Today on the site you can see 7 settlements with 136 buildings (houses and sanctuaries) from the Mesolithic period, from 9500 to 7200 BC. |
