golubac naslov

The Golubac fortress was built at the very entrance to the Djerdap Gorge, at the point where the Danube, widest in its stream, enter into the gorge of the Carpathian Mountains. For the first time in historical sources, the Golubac fortress is mentioned in 1335 as a fortress with a Hungarian military crew. Although it was founded before the mentioned year, it is not known who built it and when exactly. Its name on medieval maps is written in different languages: Galambas, Galambocz, Colombazo, Columbaz, Columbarum, Taubersburg, Tawbenstein, Peristerin, Giwerdzinlik etc. and in each base it forms the word - golub (dove).
